All of our Instructors & assisting Instructors are friendly & approachable, they offer a friendly & safe training environment. Tweed Valley Hapkido Instructors are certified instructor which are credited by the Ryki Hapkido Australian Federation in the ordinance of Excellent. Tweed Valley Hapkido are associated members with the (MAA) Martial Arts Australia. Tweed Valley Hapkido Instructors are Credited First Aid Officers. Tweed Valley Hapkido offer Membership & Insurance to all students through Ryki Hapkido Australian Federation.
Master Mark
Mark started his Martial Art Career in 1983 at the age of 19 with Taekwondo for brief time. Mark then turned his attention to Hapkido joining the Australian Hapkido Association in 1984. Mark trained under Mr Warwick Ford in Kay St Murwillumbah. Warwick was Master Matthew Sung Su Kim’s first white belt novice to grade as a black belt. Mark was Mr Ford's senior student at the Murwillumbah Hapkido school. Graduated to 1st Degree Black Belt at the end of 1987 under the guidance of Mr Ford & Master Sung Su Kim. Because of Mr Ford's relationship with Master Kim, Murwillumbah Hapkido School had the privilege to be taught extensively by Master Sung Su Kim & to be graded each year by Master Matthew Sung Su Kim. 1988 Mr Warwick Ford left Murwillumbuh due to his daughters illness, the Hapkido school was handed over to Mark Bergquist. The Hapkido school was then relocated to the Murwillumbah GYM which was located in the towns CBD area. The school was very successful & well establish by 1994, the numbers grow & becoming one of the largest Hapkido schools in the Northern Rivers Under the guidance of Mr Mark Bergquist. Around this time Mark started another Hapkido school at Crystal Creek via Murwillumbah giving the kids that lived in the rural areas a chance to learn the Art of Hapkido. In 1999 due to injuries Mark could not train for a brief period of time sadly Mark was force to hand over the AHA school in Murwillumbah to one of his student. After making a come back to Hapkido, Mark started up a Hapkido school in Tweed Heads. Mark then moved on to start up more Hapkido school in the Tweed Valley. Tyalgum, Mooball, Burringbar, Hastings Point & Murwillumbah. Tweed Valley Hapkido are affiliation RHAF & AMA, Mark has now lead his schools into a positive direction with the Ryki Hapkido Australian Federation. Mark has over 20 years teaching experience & 30 years in Hapkido training. Through out Marks career he study the Art of Hapkido under different Masters & Grand-masters & Dojunims from Korea. Dojunim Ji Han-Jae, Grand-master Byung Chu Kim, Grand-master ll- Woong Huh, Master Jong Woong Woo, Master jong Sea Lee, Master Kim Tae Woo, Master Lee Jae Rum, Master Peter Kim. Mark studied the Sward Art of Gumdo under Master Kiwan Kim & trained in Hapkiyusul under Mr Barrie Restall at the Australian headquarters. Marks aim is to share his Passion & love of Hapkido to all of his students & to those who are interested in learning the Art.
